Overview
OutDo splits everything that reaches you across two indicators in the top right corner: a message balloon and a bell. What separates them is who wrote it — people on the balloon side, the system on the bell side — not where the message appeared.
| Indicator | Counts what was written by | Includes |
|---|---|---|
| Message balloon | People | Chat conversations (organization, workspace, channels and direct messages) and any message addressed to you through a mention (@), wherever it is — including comments on a table record. |
| Bell | The system | Record changes, assignments and unassignments, workflow review and approval requests, and comments made on tables that aren't addressed to you. |
The two never count the same message. A mention of you inside a comment counts on the message balloon, not on the bell — even when it sits on a table record.
The interface itself is in Portuguese, so tab and button names below are given as they appear on screen, translated in parentheses.
Message balloon
The balloon bundles two things: the chat conversations you have access to, and everything addressed to you through a mention. A mention counts towards the balloon regardless of where it was written, which makes this indicator the right place to look when someone has talked to you.
The icon only shows while you are inside an organization. On pages that have no organization — the organization picker, for instance — it stays hidden.
Bell
The bell lists what the system wrote: record changes, assignments and unassignments, workflow review and approval requests, and the table comments that aren't addressed to you.
Tabs
The tabs are, in this order:
| Tab | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Minhas (mine) | Assignments and changes addressed to you |
| Comentários (comments) | Comments made on table records |
| Alterações (changes) | Record changes |
| Todos (all) | Everything together |
Workflow review and approval requests have no recipient and no comment/change type, so they only ever show up under Todos — don't go looking for them under Minhas, Comentários or Alterações.
The tab that opens by default is the first one that has content. If there is nothing unread anywhere, it opens on Todos.
When Minhas is empty but there are notifications on another tab, a Ver todas as notificações (N) (see all notifications) button takes you to the rest.
How messages get marked as read
The read marker works per conversation and per record, not per message: opening a conversation or a record marks every earlier message in that scope as read in one go.
In chat (from the message balloon) there is also a mark as unread action, which moves the marker back to before a message of your choice — useful when you open a conversation in passing and want to return to it later. A record's comment thread has no such action: the menu on a message there only offers Apagar (delete).
Muting
There are no per-user subscriptions: whoever has access to the scope receives. The only thing each person controls is muting.
Silenciar para mim ("mute for me") cuts the automatic notifications for:
- one record, through the chip next to the record thread's filters;
- a whole table, through the Notifications section of the table settings.
It is personal: only whoever turns it on stops receiving them, and everyone else keeps being notified. With no action at all, nothing is muted.
Table settings
Whoever configures the table has two options in the settings section, and they apply to everyone:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Enable messages | Allows writing messages and comments on the table's records |
| Enable change log | Records the changes made to the table's records |
Newly created tables start with messages on and the change log off. Tables that already existed keep whatever they had.
Mentions and messages addressed to you always arrive, even with these options off.
Automatic notifications
Automatic assignment and change notifications come from the configuration of a User column: Notify whoever is in this field and Notify row changes. Both are off by default and are set by whoever configures the column, for everyone. Only the User component notifies.
Several changes in a row to the same record collapse into a single notification, so the bell doesn't fill up with one line per edit.
See the User component for the full settings, the text of each notification and the noise controls.
Tips
- If you are looking for something someone addressed to you, start with the message balloon — mentions always land on that side, even when they sit inside a record's comment.
- Opening a record or a conversation marks everything that was there as read at once. In a chat conversation, if you were only passing through, use mark as unread to move the marker back.
- An empty Minhas doesn't mean an empty inbox — click Ver todas as notificações (N) to see what's left on the other tabs.
- Muting is personal and changes nothing for your colleagues. To cut the noise for everyone, adjust the user column configuration instead.
